Longines was founded in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. The company took the name Longines in 1867, when it established its factory in an area called Les Longines (meaning “long meadows”).
Longines is known for its long history of precision timekeeping, especially in sports and aviation. Today, the brand is still based in Saint-Imier and operates as part of the Swatch Group.
