Purpose / Inspiration:
The Oyster Perpetual is the blueprint. It’s the most stripped-down Rolex—no date, no bezel tricks, no complications. Just the essentials: time, reliability, and timeless design. “Oyster” stands for the brand’s original water-resistant case, and “Perpetual” refers to their in-house self-winding movement. Together, they created the foundation of every Rolex that followed. This is the watch for someone who wants Rolex quality without Rolex noise.

Designer:
Original design by Hans Wilsdorf’s Rolex team in the early 20th century. The modern versions are updated in size and color, but still stick to the same basic form and function as the original waterproof automatic Rolex.

Case size:

  • Classic: 36mm, 41mm (most popular)

Bezel:

Water resistance:

  • Twinlock screw-down crown
