Happy Sport

Introduced: 1993

Purpose / Inspiration: The Happy Sport was a revolution: a sporty, everyday luxury watch with free-floating diamonds. Before this, diamonds were reserved for formalwear—Chopard broke that rule by making them move in a watch tough enough for jeans and soft enough for silk. It was casual elegance with sparkle and a bold new take on femininity.

Designer: Created by Caroline Scheufele, who wanted to combine stainless steel with diamonds—an idea that was radical at the time

Case size: Ranges from ~30mm to 42mm; available in round, oval, and square shapes

Case options: Stainless steel, two-tone, rose gold, yellow gold, white gold; full pavé and high jewelry versions available

Powered by:

  • Quartz movements in many references
  • Chopard 09.01-C and 96.17-C automatic calibers (in-house) in larger and mechanical editions
  • All mechanical models are COSC-certified

Bezel: Smooth or diamond-set; round and oval models are most common

Dial options: White, blue, pink, mother-of-pearl, sunburst, or guilloché; Roman numerals, indexes, or minimalist—always with floating diamonds between two sapphire crystals

Water resistance: 30m to 50m depending on model

Bracelet: Steel or gold bracelet, leather, rubber strap, or alligator—frequently interchangeable on modern models

Still in production, with seasonal releases and many sub-variants (Happy Sport Oval, Happy Sport Chrono, Happy Sport Mini, Happy Sport Automatic)

Why it matters: The Happy Sport didn’t just blend diamonds and steel—it redefined what a luxury women’s watch could be: elegant, joyful, everyday. It’s one of the most successful women’s watch lines ever made.

Diamonds That Work Overtime: Elegant enough for night, tough enough for day

The Rule-Breaker Watch: Steel + Diamonds = Icon

Every Flick, a Sparkle: Floating diamonds that move when you do

Designed by a Woman, Worn by Millions: Caroline Scheufele changed the game
