Introduced: 1958 (original), revived in 2014 and again in 2015 as the True Second and Universal Time
Purpose / Inspiration: The Geophysic was created to celebrate the International Geophysical Year of 1958, a time of scientific collaboration during the Cold War. JLC built it as a high-precision, anti-magnetic tool watch—intended for explorers, scientists, and engineers working in extreme environments. The modern revivals kept that pure, functional spirit, but added clean, dress-watch styling and even a mechanical deadbeat seconds complication.
Designer: Originally developed by JLC’s technical team for scientists and naval personnel; modern designs refined by JLC’s heritage and movement divisions

Why it matters: The Geophysic represents JLC at its most honest—functional, accurate, beautifully built. No flash, no gimmicks—just real watchmaking, made for people who value precision over pose. The True Second version especially stands out, showing that JLC could bring quartz-like ticking to a fully mechanical movement.
Built for Scientists. Worn by Collectors. Function-first elegance
Deadbeat Seconds = Real Mechanical Nerd Power
Not a Dive Watch. Not a Dress Watch. Just a Damn Good Watch.
Cold War Roots. Modern Movement. Geophysic Delivers.
