Chrono Galactic

Introduced: Mid-to-late 2000s (circa 2008–2010)

Purpose / Inspiration: Part of the Galactic collection, the Chrono Galactic was designed to blend sporty chronograph function with refined, modern aesthetics—aimed at professionals who wanted tool-watch capability in a polished, everyday-wearable format. It was Breitling’s “cosmopolitan chronograph.”

Designer: Developed by Breitling’s in-house team during the last phase of the Schneider family era. The Galactic line was positioned as an evolution of Windrider-style watches like the Chrono Cockpit and Starliner.

Materials & Features:

  • 39mm stainless steel case, often in two-tone or diamond bezel configurations.
  • Powered by the Breitling Caliber 13 (Valjoux 7750 base)—COSC-certified automatic chronograph.
  • Dials featured date or day-date windows, applied numerals or markers, and were offered in white, black, blue, and mother-of-pearl options.
  • 100m water resistance, domed sapphire crystal, and available on bracelet or leather.

Discontinuation Status: Discontinued in the mid-2010s. Replaced by smaller Chronomat B01s and simplified Galactic time-only models. Harder to find now—especially in two-tone or diamond variants.

Function Meets Finesse: All the chrono capability—wrapped in something you can wear to dinner.

Dress Chrono With Guts: COSC-certified, automatic, and designed to turn heads.

Perfectly Proportioned: Not massive, not dainty—just sleek, solid, and daily-driver ready.

The Forgotten Crossover: Chronomat DNA with an urban twist. Often overlooked. Never outclassed.
