Chrono Cockpit

Introduced: Early 2000s (around 2002–2003)

Purpose / Inspiration: Part of the Windrider collection, the Chrono Cockpit was created to deliver Chronomat-level performance in a more refined, smaller-sized case—blending sporty aviation functionality with dress-watch versatility. It was Breitling’s answer for professionals who wanted a chronograph that could live in the cockpit and the conference room.

Designer: Developed under the Schneider family, this model helped fill the mid-sized chronograph gap in the catalog—alongside the Cockpit (time-only) and Starliner (women’s).

Materials & Features:

  • 39mm case in stainless steel, two-tone, or 18k gold options.
  • Powered by the Breitling Caliber 13 (based on the Valjoux 7750)—automatic chronograph, COSC-certified.
  • Features included tachymeter scale, date at 3 o’clock, screw-down crown, and 200m water resistance.
  • Often paired with the Pilot bracelet or leather straps, and offered in black, silver, blue, or champagne dials.

Discontinuation Status: Discontinued by the early 2010s. Replaced in spirit by compact Chronomat variants and the Galactic Chronograph line.

Compact Chronograph Muscle: Big movement, streamlined case.

Versatility Built In: Dress it up, fly it down—built to live in both worlds.

Everyday Chrono for Professionals: Not oversized. Not underpowered. Just right.

Chronomat DNA, Sized to Fit: A pilot’s watch that wears like a tailored jacket.
