Introduced: Early 2000s
Purpose / Inspiration: Inspired by early 20th-century AP pocket watches and wristwatch prototypes, the Tradition line was created to honor heritage craftsmanship—with cushion-shaped cases, off-center dials, and exposed components. It’s a tribute to AP’s deep archive, made modern.
Designer: Developed in-house by AP’s heritage and complications team, pulling directly from historical models kept in the AP museum.
Materials & Features: Featured manual-wind movements, often openworked or partially skeletonized. Typically offered in rose gold or platinum, with large cases (around 47mm) and classic design elements like Breguet numerals and off-center subdials. Known models include the Tradition Tourbillon Minute Repeater Chronograph.
Discontinuation Status: Discontinued—no longer in production. Phased out quietly as AP pivoted focus to Royal Oak and Code 11.59 innovations.
Museum Quality, Wearable Form: Pulled from AP’s vault of early prototypes and reborn for collectors.
Not Made to Be Famous: No hype, no marketing blitz—just real watchmaking for real watch lovers.
Time Through a Craftsman’s Eyes: You can see the handwork, the parts, the story—right on the dial.
The Hidden Line: Most collectors don’t even know it exists. Those who do? Don’t sell.
